AP ARt and Design 2020
remote instruction begins!
Here are some great videos from The College Board
due april 30 2020: first draft of inquiry statement
Writing your inquiry statement is one of the important points I wish we could have covered together in class! I wanted to save it more for the end of the year because it is very much a reflection on your journey of your artwork this year. Where did you start? How did you get from point A to point B to point C? It is a summary, overview, elevator pitch of your artwork. It is your chance to "sell" your theme and the materials and processes with which you chose to make your artwork.
I recommend you watch this video from the College Board regarding writing an inquiry statement. It's not the best quality sound/video, but it has very good information. You'll see what I mean.
Please, share your inquiry statement with me on a google doc. I will give you feedback. Please, also have family members and friends read it and give you feedback. You will need to show them your artwork along with the statement so it makes sense to them. I'll look at your AP Digital Portfolio while reading your statement.
By the way, you have only 1200 characters (including spaces)! In Google Doc, you can count characters/spaces. Click on the Tools tab and click on Word Count. Look at "characters".
I'd like your first draft of your statement by Thursday April 30th.

submitting artwork to an art show
There are lots of opportunities to submit artwork to an art show. Simply visit the kubuart home page and scroll toward the bottom. Another option is putting together a small portfolio that you might use to submit artwork to an art school, for a scholarship, or for an art job (tattoo artist), etc. Remember, all you have to do is submit it. You don't have to have your artwork accepted. Please, email me evidence of artwork submission no later than 12 noon on May 20th.
final sketchbook check 2020
In order to get points for your sketchbook this semester, please share 5-10 sketches/scribbles/mind maps/technique testing/etc. from this semester with me via email or a doc or a slideshow no later than 12 noon on May 20.

HOW TO WRITE AN ARTIST STATEMENT
Click here to read about writing your artist statement. You should write one artist statement per work of art. There may be some overlapping themes, materials, etc. Yet, each should be unique.
eNTERING A SHOW
*Remember, your art work must be submitted by the end of January. This means you filled out appropriate forms, paid an entry fee if applicable and prepared your piece for the show by matting it, etc. by the end of January.
When searching, look for art exhibits, art shows, juried art exhibits, local galleries, greater-Lansing galleries, Michigan venues or you may search for out-of-state venues. You are welcome to do more research on where you can submit your art work, but here are a few sites to get your started:
Art Fair Calendar
Art Show
MI Fun 4 U
Arts Council of Greater Lansing
East Lansing Art Festival
MSU Federal Credit Union - this would apply to our timeline and requirements (see me for application)
